Johny
When people ask you what do you do for living? What do you say? -I am driving for umber and make £5k per month? - Private chauffer? - My own business ? - Self employed? - Minicab driver? Are you proud? fullpower
LUED
Depends on the person asking, if you want to continue speaking to them for the rest of the evening (or whatever situation you're in), or you just want them to go away. If the latter, then saying you're a minicab driver works best. Most people will ask you the usual "are you busy?", "is it good money?" etc. Just say, "I get by nicely, thanks, and it pays the bills". Saying you're a chauffeur, (whether you are or not, if you're working for a chauffeur firm, or just drive for one client), isn't recommended, as you'll get the usual "do you/have you ever driven anyone famous?" which I find annoying (obviously, a professional wouldn't say who their client/s are to strangers), other than that, you'll get people asking what car/s you drive, where you go, and other questions which may seem impersonal and feel uncomfortable answering. fullpower and cardinal

flyinguber
If you make 4k, 1k goes to uber, 1k goes to running costs and you remain with 2k and you have to work minim 50 hours/week to achieve that
JPH82
Nobody quotes there gross. That's like me as a train driver saying I earn 4k+ before tax. I standard corrected if that's what's implied
george
so you are happy with £2,500 net, I will be as well but you cant ignore the fact how many hours we have to put to make that profit.. 200 hours a month minimum?
JPH82
I had to leave my job as a train driver through multiple back surgeries and this is the most flexible thing I can do. I'm not shy about putting in the work and I've really sat down and thought about the job and the outgoings. I'll be happy if I can make £500 a week clean. Hoping that where it's still taking off in the north west it will be good for a year or two admin
