Johny reacted to MancX in Is it worth to join uber as a driver in Manchester?
Maybe car finance? £200+ per month over 5 years? = £50+ per week.
Car insurance (special Hire and Reward insurance required by law.)
    = £60+ per week.
    Maintenance = £10+ per week.
    Cleaning = £10+ per week.
Miscellaneous costs (PH Licence, road tax, bus lane fines, small accidents etc.) = £20 per week.
Eating/drinking at work £20?+ per week.
    Diesel for 40 hours work = £60+.
    £230 costs per week.
    40 hours x £11 = £440 - £230 =
    £210 for 40 hours work.
. . . Then take off tax and national insurance.

Financing a car is the best option to save money as renting one is £180+ per week. Just risky in the event of being unwell at any point, you would not be able to pay the finance payments. Or if you get sick of the job etc.
You are an experienced Uber driver in Hungary, I don't know how much different the laws and regulations and costs of driving is compared to the U.K?
You will know most of what I have pointed out. I have written this reply also with other people in mind, who have not driven with Uber before and may read this. It is a warning to those people.

I don't mean to put you off. Just like to give an honest opinion of what driving with Uber in Manchester is like.
It is possible to earn a bit more than the above for those same hours, but not a whole lot more. You would have to push yourself all the time, be prepared to drive miles to pick ups. You would need to have a certain mindset. To pick people up for such little money per trip is disheartening.
Driving Uber, or for a private hire minicab firm in Manchester is more or less a last resort. Or for those who do not like to conform to the normality and formality of a regular permanent job. Also for those who are happy to drive a nice car, but earn little money and have a low quality of life.
A regular job driving for Tesco home delivery, Ocado, Argos etc would be a far better option.
. . . If you already possess a Private Hire licence it would be worth trying it out by renting a car first to see what you think. However, to go through the process of applying for a licence if you've not got one already, is not worth the bother.

Maybe. Earnings are irrelevant though, it's the amount of profit you make, which mattters.
Going by your figures, I'd reckon it would cost more than £40 extra a day to run a brand new £70,000 LWB Lux car, compared to a 8 year old Prius (I know these are the extreme ends of the scale, but it's perfectly possible).
Therefore, an experienced X driver who knows where the work and knows their way around London, will earn more in their 8 year old Prius (who paid cash outright for their car), than the new Lux driver, who has just entered the trade, financed to the hilt, with £1k monthly leasing payments.

Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity.

THis is it, soon we will have auto-pilot cars, smart motorways, 0 jobs

I agree long hours indeed, but then again many people work for £1,300/month and they don't have the luxury to own a car. Nothing is perfect mate

Impressive hours there, but not impressive earnings for you hard work. You deserve alot more for those hours.
Your hours average over 10 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK! to earn that.  Add on other time for having a break, tiredness. Time out on the road could well be 80+ hours. This is not sustainable at all for most people for many reasons.
. . . And these figures are NOT your earnings.
Most people rent a car at around £200.   To work that many hours on the road (70 hours+) will cost well over £100 diesel.
Other costs add up to over £20 per week.
Take the above costs off. You will then have your earnings. Oh, and tax and national insurance to come out of your own pocket.
Doing those long hours is dangerous to you and your customers. Also it is damaging to physical and mental health and wellbeing. The amount of Uber cars/private hire cars involved in accidents due to tiredness is a big problem for the trade.
Are these the figures from when you worked in Manchester?

From 8 April 2019, the most polluting cars, vans and motorbikes will have to pay £12.50 to drive through central London, while buses, coaches and HGVs will pay £100.
London's ultra low emission zone (ULEZ):
Covers the same area as the existing congestion zone and will be in addition to the congestion charge Applies to petrol vehicles that do not meet Euro 4 standards and diesel vehicles that do not meet Euro 6 standards Will apply 24 hours a day, 365 days a year Will not apply to residents living in the zone until April 2022 Black taxis are exempt-but not PHV Replaces the £10 T-Charge which will apply for older cars entering the capital from October

    http://www.recode.net/2017/3/20/14982926/uber-mapping-brian-mcclendon-steps-down
Brian McClendon, the vice president of maps at Uber, is leaving the company after close to two years, the company has confirmed. McClendon joined the ride-hail company after more than 10 years of working at Google’s mapping department.
“Mr. McClendon is departing amicably from Uber and will be an adviser to the company,” an Uber spokesperson said in a statement, noting he was “moving back to Kansas where he is from to explore politics. His exit has been in the works for some time and his last day at Uber is March 28.”
McClendon’s is the latest in a series of departures from the company, which has been shaken by recent accusations of sexual harassment and sexism, leading CEO Travis Kalanick to admit he needs to “grow up” and commit to hiring a chief operating officer.

London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan recently announced a £10 toxicity charge for the oldest and most-polluting cars in the city, which will become effective in October 2017. If your car is older than a 55 plate, you’ll have to pay the T-charge.
As no PCO car can be more than 10 years old, the T-charge does not affect any current PCO car.
If your diesel car registration is one of the following, you’re ok!
65 16 66 17 Are you driving a diesel PCO car older than a 65 plate? Then maybe it’s time to change it if you have long term plans
    ULEZ (Ultra Low Emissions Zone):
London’s air quality has reduced significantly in recent years and the ULEZ is a way to further reduce the most harmful emissions generated by road transport in central London and across the Capital.
From 2020, all PHVs travelling in the ULEZ zone must meet certain emissions standards to drive in the zone or will have to pay £12.50 per day charge:
To avoid paying a charge from 2020:
Diesel cars must be Euro 6.  65/15/66/17 plate PCO cars will not be affected.   Make sure you finish your finance until 2020 if you dont want to do this job any-more

The Uber thing worked because it was cheaper and, initially, it was more pleasant than the typical taxi. So that’s why it worked. But people don’t have loyalty to Uber, not even the drivers .
“Instead of just focusing on being a good taxi company for the digital age… it’s blowing all sots of money [on] self driving-cars and China and now India. The company just so much reflects the megalomania of Travis Kalanick and whatever he thinks he’s doing.”
One of the biggest issues that has left Uber’s business model hanging in the balance is its resistance to classifying its drivers—there are reportedly 600,000 in the U.S.—as employees, not contractors. If Uber is a house of cards, this is a key part of the foundation that, once removed, would demolish the structure.

"It’s Bad At The Company Too
It’s not just Uber drivers who feel downtrodden. A widely-circulated essay published last week by a former engineer described a series of incidents that painted the company’s headquarters as a space that fostered repeated, systemic sexual harassment."
At the rate it’s going, Uber could crash and burn through its stockpile of cash by the end of the decade.
Maybe Kalanick knows something we all don’t. Maybe Uber has a secret team of genius scientists who’ll surpass all expectations of driverless cars and, somehow, have a fully-automated fleet of vehicles for the company to use everywhere within a few years. Maybe billionaire investors are actually fine with propping up a money-losing venture into perpetuity.
But until Uber can prove it has found a sustainable model—or, perhaps, stop the investor leaks of its financials—there’s little to suggest it has the bandwidth to survive. Whether it’s sold, drastically shrinks its market footprint, or just outright shutters, it’s untenable for Uber to exist long term as the tech juggernaut it is today.
