Uber drivers are earning 53% less than they did in 2013  Big Think

Drivers for apps like Uber and Lyft are, as a whole, making significantly less money compared to what they earned in 2013, according to a new study from the ...

Bullshit, everything is better in terms of income but the problem is only with uber and if one customer makes a fake complain, you're out and no more income. You have no powers to prove that you are inocent

Greedy drivers are likely to work for more than one company besides Uber anyway, so this limit wouldn't affect them.

Besides, this 10 hour limit is only for when you've got a passenger on board, and it's very unlikely you'll exceed that limit within a 24 hour period.

I agree, but still I approve this decision, maybe we will get rid of all those guys driving with 10mph because they are too tired

  3. 10. WE SUPPORT THAT AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES (AVS) IN DENSE URBAN AREAS SHOULD BE OPERATED ONLY IN SHARED FLEETS.

Due to the transformational potential of autonomous vehicle technology, it is critical that all AVs are part of shared fleets, well-regulated, and zero emission. Shared fleets can provide more affordable access to all, maximize public safety and emissions benefits, ensure that maintenance and software upgrades are managed by professionals, and actualize the promise of reductions in vehicles, parking, and congestion, in line with broader policy trends to reduce the use of personal cars in dense urban areas.

If you are in your 40 years you might still have a chance and you dont need to change the job

IF your in your 50 years, you can relax and not worried- by the time technology will threat your job, you will wait for pension

If you are below 40- dude start thinking by now what you're going to do when you will be 50 years old as your job will be taken by the machines!

Well said, good milestone ! I agree

I went there to hear about the £5000 grant when guess what ,there is no grant atm just "special offers" for drivers to rent electric cars from Weflex or pcorentals. They say Uber is working to increase the number of fast charging points for drivers to make them switch for electric cars, or is it for the future driverless fleet? ;)

I think is just a cover for automated fleet implementation, A fully automated fleet could save the company around £900m a year, with a potential profit of more than £1bn!

They need smart roads, fast charging points, so there are some critical points to be achieved before arrival of AI, this is the first!

  6. Uber ordered 24,000 Volvo XC90 to form a fleet of driverless vehicles between 2019-2021.

You have 3 years to get rid of your finance or find a different job, machines will take over , trust me. IS not just Uber, all the big players doing the same thing.

24,000 drivers will be replaced until 2021 by machines :) fact

  7. You need to exchange it, send the current one along with some sort of ID like passport and then you will get the back the Uk version

You can drive in Great Britain on a full, valid driving licence from another EU country.

You can drive in Great Britain until you’re 70. If you’re 68 or over when you become resident, you can drive for 3 years.

After this time you must exchange your licence.

    1. Order form D1 from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

    2. Send the form, the £43 fee and any documents you need (including your driving licence) to the address on the form.

    3. You should get your new licence within 3 weeks.

You can only drive in Great Britain with a non-EU licence for 12 months after you arrive.

    Hello,

i am driving in the uk for the past 3 years with my european driver licence, my question is if i can drive with it as a uber driver or if i will change it into uk driver licence I’ll have to wait to gain experience?

    Thanks !

You must hold a full DVLA, Northern Ireland, or other EEA state driving licence that's at least three years old.

It doesnt matter as long you're from EU.

In order to be licensed, you will need to meet the following criteria:

    • You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of applying. There is no upper age limit, as long as you meet the other licensing requirements
    • You must hold a full DVLA, Northern Ireland, or other EEA state driving licence that's at least three years old
    • You must have the right to live and work in the UK
    • You must be of good character. To establish this you will be required to undertake an 'enhanced' criminal records check from DBS through our service provider - GBGroup
    • You must be medically fit which means meeting the DVLA Group 2 standards. In most cases, this will mean that you will have to undergo a medical examination with someone who has access to your full medical history
    • You will need to undertake a topographical skills assessment from an accredited assessment centre
  9. The opportunity is here, if you pay drivers more than £1 per mile and thereafter not take 30% commission you can retain drivers. Uber has the best product for the consumer who has no worries about the driver who is living out of his car and driving 14 hours a day, 7 days a week ???

I think the industry has moved on a positive direction, disruption welcome !!! :) The giant is wounded

  10. Of course can afford to pay those £3mil, is nothing for them compared with the net gross from London market, but those small other companies which represent maybe 30% from the market will slowly slowly disappear,

If a local company cab company cant afford to pay the new rates and close down, where do you think their customers will move to??? Uber ;)

Uber pays £3mil but gains much more on the long term, good deal ! Well done for them
