Hi there,
If anyone with experience can give a straight up rundown of whether or not it is economically viable to drive with uber in Birmingham that would be very much appreciated.
To give a bit of background, I am a 23 year old, recently moved to Brum area and looking to grow my online business while making some cash on the side.
If anyone can correct me on any costs I'm missing out or anything that might be off please do let me know.
With Uber taking 25% and taking into account petrol I have estimated I need to bill in total about £1200 PM to break even.
So in this scenario (of making £1200):
25% to Uber - £300PM
Lease of Car - £450PM
Insurance - £200PM
Petrol Costs - £200PM (This was a bit of a guess tbh, To make £1200 I am not sure how many miles and therefore petrol that would be, some more info on that would be great)
Car maintenance - £50PM
Total - £1200PM
Does this seem like an okay estimation, is there any costs I am missing/ anything I am off?
I am hoping to put in the hours to clear £1000PM profit for myself, which if these numbers are correct would mean taking in total around the £2200 mark. How many hours of driving do you think this would take? Baring in mind I will be working Friday and Saturday nights and always peak hours.
Can anyone also give a brief rundown of exactly what needs to be done from start to on the road with Uber?
Any feedback and wisdom from yourselves is very much appreciated
Thanks,
Scott
Yes, that is about correct.
You need to spend minimum £1000 / month just to be able to work.
Is like any other business, invest 1000 to get 2000-3000 from where you get the profit.
But like I said, if you have an office job, you still need to pay for the car, insurance, petrol, etc if you want a car

Everybody is looking for a way to increase their earnings, soon very soon will be a direct competitor for Uber, until then you can try different companies , i will advise to use word of mouth or the ones from http://www.phtm.co.uk/classifieds/jobs
Good link

Finally someone has had the initiative to offer extend warranty for private hire drivers, they say once is covered there is no limit on the mileage.
Sounds good, remove the hassle for expensive repairs for £40/month
I will give them a call

i cant even dream of making anything close to 80k/year
hahahaha, same here, only if work minim 80 hours a week from 170 hours. 50 you need to sleep, you have 40 hours to actually live but you need to do shopping, shower, eat, so basic no LIFE

People already hacked the TESLA from 12miles away, its going to be a long way until there but i think will be like smoking or drinking, people being aware of the risks but not caring because is cheap

Average salaries in Leeds are like 30% less than London, so I am guessing people will spend 30% less on cabs make sense?

I think the most important is the rating, the closer you are to 4.9 the better

OR just quit uber and start looking for another job because tomorrow this job will be dead
-
Hahahahaha, very smart. i will try it

Yes, we are a FORCE but how can you remind this to others, at the moment is a chaos. Everybody chasing £££££ and not caring about the others or the future

My opinion, LEASE is the best option- is between renting and finance

Using the marketing skills...google it.
1st- make your customer feel important by asking if the temp is ok, the music, if he is thirsty ...
2- be nice, ask him how was his day but dont push it if you dont get more than a straight answer
3-ask him about his favourite route
4-car clean, you clean and smart looking if possible

Very interesting article:
The thing is, now, we are now by ourselves. We messed up our yellow cab industry, because we were tired from the owners. Now, we cannot go back to yellow cab, because we already bought our private cars. If somebody has a $45,000 loan, how are they going to pay for their car? It’s not possible.

I was using money supermarket, getting different prices from £2700 upward , my previous insurance co gave me something around £2500 but with a big excess fee.
Anything better ?

No.
I currently lease mine at £503.46 (incl. VAT) per month, on a 6+35 basis (equivalent to £573.39 incl. VAT per month).
I have also placed an order on the new model E-Class, which is going to be £653.00 (incl. VAT) per month, on a 3+35 basis (equivalent to £689,28 incl. VAT per month).
Lued, sorry but i dont understand, what does it mean "on 6+35 basis"

Car and rating!!!!

I used to work night time but there are so many drivers at the moment, i cant reach my target anymore. I know day time is more busy than night but i am stressed with the traffic , because yesterday morning took me 100min to get from City airport to Strand!!!!
Can i have some advises and money per hour ???
Will be much appreciated ...

All the same, is more important to change it around 6000 miles than trying to use the most expensive one

If your rating drops below 4.8 after 4 weeks on Exec platform, you will be downgraded to receive UberX requests only!!!!
Maybe this is the trick, so they can take even more Exec drivers.
Funny enough, i realised if you rate the customers 5 stars and accept jobs as much as you can , your rating will improve as well :)

I totally agree with you mate, you cant have them all.
