thedriver
Just read on commercial vehicles maintenance guide, instead of every 10,000 miles taxies and police cars need to change oil every 5,000 due to low speed driving and idling. What do you think? When do you change your oil? I know for fact that city miles are hard miles!!! I change my oil every 7,500 miles using full syn, the biggest risk factor is fuel contamination of the oil due to sitting idling.
CalvinCabbie
This is important especially for Uber drivers. Since you’re drinking a lot in the city. City driving can be difficult on an engine. It’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to preventative maintenance.
LUED
Oil is changed when the car is in for a service, which I take in when the service is due, every 15,000 miles. I've done this for the past 6 years doing this job, and never had a problem.
Mr. Wolf
Do we actually need to change the oil or just keep an eye on the oil levels and add when needed until servicing is due? Will that be ok?
LUED
Do we actually need to change the oil or just keep an eye on the oil levels and add when needed until servicing is due? Will that be ok? I do that. I asked my mechanic about this, and said that although it does no harm to change the oil and filter more often than the recommended manufacturer intervals, you will be throwing money down the drain. As I said, all the cars I've had no problems, so far.
