  2. Hi guys,

I am wonder if anyone done the replacement for timing chain.

I have an bmw f10 520d 2010 and i noticed the noise from the back of the engine, went to bmw specialist and they confirm is the timing chain, needs to be replaced, looks like is a common fault for 2l diesel engines n47.

They charge £1200 + vat for the operation.

    Any advices?

    Thanks

  3. I am sure it happened to many of you.

for example you're on Dover street waiting for a job and another uber car is parking on st James square, the guy from James square will receive the job from dover street while you're still waiting.

It happened to me when i was on the phone with the other guy who was parking on James square.

I did check my phone after this to see if i receive jobs, with my client account, it was fine.

    So ??????

  4. Do NOT Include Insurance As A Cost

Conventional wisdom suggests that car insurance is just as real of a cost of owning a car used for Uber as petrol and tires are. However, as an Uber driver, you should ignore your car insurance costs all together when determining your costs of driving for Uber. Why? For a few reasons.

First of all, it's not a cost that is consumed per mile. It is consumed via time. When you pay for an insurance premium you are paying for a period of time to be insured, say a month, six months, or a year. Whether you drive 1 mile or 100,000 miles during that time doesn't change the cost.

Second of all, you would be paying for it regardless of whether or not you drove for Uber.

If you stopped driving for Uber, you would save just the premium on your car insurance.

Also, if you happen to be a person who has to pay to park your vehicle at home, you should ignore this cost for the same reasons that you ignore insurance costs (except the one where Uber is providing it for you).

  5. The more boxes you check, the better your odds of scraping some profit . These points are:

     1. You work part time. Part time drivers can pick and choose when to drive, so they can drive only the busiest surge hours while full timers have to work both slow and peak hours.

     2. You drive an older car ( 4 years old car) fuel efficient and is possibly fully paid for. Driving your spanking new  5 series or Prius £20K  is the surest way to make a loss driving for Uber. Most people take fuel costs into account while neglecting other factors like normal wear and other routine maintenance. Brand new and newer (1-2 model years old) loose more value for every mile driven compared to an 4 year old car with 160,000 miles.

     3. You drive in a relatively bigger city. There are simply more people (and more requests) per square mile in cities. Pickup distances are shorter and parking is expensive. People pay Uber going in the city but mostly drive themselves home after having couple of drinks or a nice meal.

     4. You drive smart. Experienced drivers develop ways to become efficient, reduce downtime and miles between trips (dead miles) by working peak hours, avoiding longer pickups and taking advantage of incentive programs like guarantees and bonuses.

. By my estimation if you have two of these four factors working against you then it is almost guaranteed that you make a net loss doing Uber.
  6. Do you know that your Facebook account can be accessed by Facebook engineers and that too without entering your account credentials? Recent details provided by the social network giant show who can access your Facebook account and when.

No doubt, Facebook and other big tech companies including Google, Apple and Yahoo! are trying to keep their data out of reach from law enforcement and spies agencies by adopting encrypted communication and end-to-end encryption solutions in near future, but right now they have access to your personal data, and at least few of their employees can access it with one click.

Earlier this week, director at the record label Anjunabeats, Paavo Siljamäki, brought attention to this issue byposting a very interesting story on his Facebook wall. During his visit to Facebook office in LA, a Facebook engineer logged into his Facebook account after his permission, but the strange part — they did it without asking him for the password.

    ACCESS WITHOUT NOTIFICATION

Facebook even didn’t notify Siljamäki that someone else accessed his private Facebook profile, as the company does when your Facebook account is accessed from any new device or from a different Geo-location.

  7. Depends of the car, if u have a £ 2000 car and make £3000/ month then obviously is better than renting, but if you a 7 series and pay £500/ month on finance and make £4000 is better to rent because you lose a lot value of the car
